Down Royal Fri, 2nd Jun, 2023  Reserve Judgement He's slow but he keeps galloping! He likes that ground and won his point-to-point on quick ground. To be honest, it is kind of a reward for perseverance by the owner (Derek Kierans). He was giving us a lot of worry for a long time, but he probably only got his conditions today. We thought he would run well; it probably wasn't the greatest of races. It is nice to get his head in front and hopefully he can go on and win another one. Sedgefield has a 3m3f I think and Cartmel has a 3m1f, and we might travel. He'll jump a fence as well. He's not one of the superstars but it is nice to win with the small fry sometimes, it can be harder to win with them. Happy for the owner, that is his third winner of the week.

Tipperary Thu, 18th May, 2023  Lady Of The Vale I think she’ll be better over further and she’ll improve from the run. I know she ran in Cork, but I think she’ll improve from that again. She won a bumper last year but her work is better this year. Hopefully she’ll go on and she should get a reasonable handicap mark. She has a good attitude and even in her bumpers she would always battle back. She is bred to stay three miles so it’s a bonus to win over two miles. She’ll tip away over the summer. She’s owned by the Nevilles from Charleville.

Cork Mon, 10th Apr, 2023  Lar's Lass My son Thomas and Barry (O'Neill) thought she had the winning of an ordinary enough chase and she did and did it well. She jumps well, has a good attitude and likes it. I don't know what she'll do next but could go for a handicap. Thomas recently completed the trainers' course and has the point-to-point licence but basically we have been a partnership ever since he came back from England, although he wants to be the trainer on the day they win! . The point-to-pointers run in his name but it is a partnership and a family business.

Cheltenham Wed, 15th Mar, 2023  Langer Dan He’s a great horse to train because he puts it all in when it matters. The best thing that happened is that they shut the door on him two out which meant battle was renewed, and he likes that because he had to get out of jail as if it was another race. What this horse has got is heart. He’s all heart and it’s part of him. He comes alive in the spring, but we’ve got more chances to come. Compared to Wille Mullins we’re in the foothills, but we strive to get better and our team is stacked with talent.

Gowran Park Sat, 18th Feb, 2023  From The Ashes He was a frustrating old horse and had been threatening but not delivering,. We rode him a bit more positively today and they went a proper gallop which probably helped. The ground couldn't be tough enough for him and today's race rode more like a three-mile race as the ground was very sticky.
