Old Ground
She has a fabulous pedigree and the Flynns are super breeders. We thought she would do that on what she was doing at home and she was very good. She fell asleep with me in the middle of the race and got very behind the bridle but that's not a bad thing. At home she travels away but even when I got up on her here in the parade ring, it took a while to get up on her. Colreevy was the same so that mightn't be a bad thing. We'll see what we'll do now whether we give her a break or go for a winners' bumper. She has a lot of ability and is definitely one to look forward to, in summer or winter. It's nice to get off the mark for the season as I missed a winner last week but am now level with Jody (Townend, in the Amateur Jockeys' Championship)!

she likes that nicer ground and was entitled to do that. She had experience and it was handy to go out and just keep it simple on her. She wasn't in love with the ground throughout the winter but likes the better ground. She was having a little look in front but I was in control of the race everywhere and was able to dictate away. It was probably surprising it took her so long to win her maiden but her result in Fairyhouse (finishing third at Grade 1 level) was good for breeding later on.

Birdie Or Bust
her winter form was good, she went for a break then and has come back twice the mare and looked really well. We purposely waited for the new season to reappear and she is a nice mare, so hopefully keeps improving. She has always shown a nice bit and I'll see what Frank (Berry) and J.P. (McManus) want to do now. Hopefully she has a future ahead of her and I'm delighted for the McManus's.

Walk Away Harry
He had a great run the last day in Clonmel, but we were a bit concerned the ground today wasn't soft enough for him. The two-miles-two helped and he gave him a brilliant ride. We were a bit worried about the form of the horses in it, it looked to be a good bumper. I think he'll be a better horse in heavy ground. He'll be a nice horse for novice hurdling next year, two-and-a-half miles in soft ground.

Monbeg Park
He got a lovely ride, he travelled into it lovely and he was very impressive. Hopefully we'll have a nice horse to go over fences next year. He had a little problem and we couldn't sell him, but we're getting a right run out of him and hopefully next year we'll get another bit of fun. He's very big and he'll have to come on for jumping a fence.

Luke (son and jockey) gave her a good ride. She’s a lovely mare and jumped well. She’s had two quick runs and we’ll probably give her a break. She’s only five and we might stay hurdling next year. She has a lovely jumping pedigree and is from the family of Anibale Fly. She likes nice ground, will stay further and there is a mares’ Listed race in Killarney but that may come a bit quick.

Bit of a fright at the third-last, but he lengthened well down the straight for me again. We got it right today and he showed the true horse. He's maturing away as well. I'd imagine so (go chasing next season). Like you saw at the third-last, he had a little guess at it. I think when he does get a bigger obstacle in front of him, his jumping will come into its own then. I’ve always thought the world of him, he has huge ability and I’m looking forward to him going over fences next year. Paul thinks that he doesn’t have much respect for hurdles and he could always do that type of thing even schooling at home. He thinks he’ll have far more respect for fences. I said to Paul to be very positive on him because he has a huge, long stride. He gallops and is able to quicken off that. His pedigree would suggest he can go out to three miles any day of the week and I know he has enough pace to go two miles so we will let the horse tell us as he learns the game in the autumn.

It was the plan to go out in front as she is very hard on herself. I think if she got a bit more racing she would learn how to settle. It was only her fourth run over hurdles today. We had her as a four-year-old and she ran once. Then the offer came up to lease her, she was leased out to a syndicate and Willie Mullins trained her. She was second in a bumper for Willie. She got carried out in Wexford on her first run back with us. I thought she'd run well that day. In Gowran, it rained, the ground got very heavy and she was very hard on herself on that kind of ground. She reversed the form today on the little bit better ground. She'll stay over hurdles now for the moment.

she'd a few lovely runs and was a bit unlucky in Navan where she was travelling very well when a horse fell in front of her. It's great to get her maiden out of the way. I was a bit concerned about the ground, because she doesn't want it heavy, but when I walked it I thought it was lovely ground. She's a nice mare going forward over fences and might have one more run this season, we'll see how she is.

He's a lovely horse. We ended yesterday well and today. All the horses that handled the ground ran well today. We were second and third in the Irish National and they are running well. It's all about the future with these young horses.

Since Christmas he’s really relaxed in himself and chilled out. He’s improving all the time and has done it very well. He’s entered in the Grade 1 three-mile (Irish Mirror) Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival so we’ll have a chat with the owners and see. He handled that ground well today and hopefully he’ll be a nice chaser in time. He’s a half-brother to Churchstonewarrior so the family are lucky for me.

He started off with us originally and I'm delighted he is back with us. It was a bit up in air whether he'd go to America, but they told us to tip away with him. Rod Moorhead owns him and there is good a few others involved as well as he is half syndicated out. He is a big striding horse and we weren't going to disappoint him in any way so it was the plan to go out in front. I'll talk to Keri Brion now, she is more or less the racing manager for Rod. We'll have a chat with them and see. Maybe he'll go for a National at Far Hills, God only knows. He is a lovely horse to have and we are just lucky to have him back again.

Better Times Ahead
He had a nice run the last day in Gowran Park, he finished fourth and it was a step forward a bit. He seemed to just handle conditions very well and probably handled them more than most of them. He stayed on and it was a nice pot to get. I had the mare (Byerley Babe) and she was a black-type mare. She was a good mare and was a little bit unlucky late in her career, she got an infection in a back leg and it just held us up when we thought we had her. These things happen. We’ll look at Fairyhouse or Punchestown and see what way the ground is as he does handle those conditions well.

Tophill Low
in her last run there was no pace and she pulled her head off so we took her to a schooling race and left her go out in front and she went really well. Obviously some penny has dropped since then and she has become very professional. We have no doubt she has ability but we just have to get it right with her. All the races she's had, she has learned a lot and today was the chance to put her out in front. I was happy with her and was really hoping she'd win and would have been disappointed if she didn't. We'll look for black-type for sure and she is a chasing type who has already schooled over fences. The penny has really dropped since her last schooling race and she will stay in time.

His schooling yesterday left a bit to be desired and I think Paul was relieved to get around let alone win but there is definitely plenty of room for improvement.

Arctic Fly
It wasn't the plan to make the running, but she took me there and I was a little worried she was doing a bit too much the whole way around, but she picked up well in the straight. I'd imagine we'll give her a chance at some black-type, maybe in Fairyhouse. She has a lovely pedigree. I think that's Brendan's (O'Sullivan) first runner, and winner, in his colours so it's very special for him. It looked like a good bumper on paper and I'd say the second horse is nice. Anything that wins at Leopardstown first time out is normally not too bad.

Limerick Lace
She's a fine big mare and jumps well. She needed the 7lb to win, to be fair, and he gave her a smashing ride. It's a nice pot to win. She always has those mares' races and we'll see where we go now.

He's a nice horse and I'd imagine we'll leave him alone until next year. I think he's nice, I haven't had him that long and we'll put him away now.

He was very fizzy in his earlier days and I thought he'd improve with racing, but it is only now he is starting to settle in the stable yard and in his races. We don't plait him and he is left to his own in his stable and is getting the hang of things now and is getting confident. Darragh (O'Keeffe, jockey) said his jumping is extremely good and he seems to be going the right way. This race, without being rude to it, broke up into an ordinary race and he was in off a nice weight.

The Connector
at least he had his day in the sun; he's promised so many times and I always thought he was well rated but the handicapper had him right. If he had another 4lb he wouldn't have won and the handicapper is never wrong really.
Punchestown Sun, 19th Feb, 2023
Verdant Place
the ground was a bit worse than I thought coming here and they are saying it's dead. He got through it but I still think he might be a better horse on nicer ground. We're delighted to get another win out of him and to go back-to-back. We'll see what the handicapper does now. I think that's his trip (2m7f) although maybe on nice ground you could drop him back a little bit. We'll keep him to 2m6f or three miles.
Navan Sun, 12th Feb, 2023

He's good. We thought he was a fair horse and were disappointed that he got beaten in his bumper but he came on plenty from that. He's not going to be a horse until next year really. Whatever he does this year is only going to be a bonus. He obviously can't go to the Cheltenham bumper because he ran in a hurdle race. We'll probably go to Fairyhouse or Punchestown. We like him.
Navan Sun, 12th Feb, 2023
Firm Footings
He's a grand horse and he probably wants further but he has a good attitude. He gallops and jumps. Jordan said he would have been an unlucky loser as he left his hind legs in the second last. The ground was very soft the last day but he ran well. He's run his race every day. I thought this might be a bit short for him but I needed to get a fourth run into him to qualify for the handicaps at Cheltenham.
Naas Sat, 11th Feb, 2023
Spillane's Tower
He's a nice horse and he will be a better horse next year as he's still a bit babyish,. He's a horse with a bright future hopefully. Luke said he needed the two-mile-three and he wouldn't want the ground any quicker. He's a big frame of a horse and another summer's grass will do him the world of good. He got a few little niggly setbacks (after Wexford), nothing major. To be fair to the firm concerned they believe in giving them time if they get a setback.

Lovely Reaction
It definitely wasn't a great race and they went a big gallop and she stayed on better than the rest of them. Her dam was a good mare for David O'Brien over a trip and this mare wants a trip too. I might stretch her out in trip and she'll go for something similar next. I didn't think she'd get into today's race, but in these 0-95 handicaps you stick them and hope to get in maybe the next day. But we got in first bat so we said we'd run. She is a nice mare and hopefully she goes on.

Walk With Paul
She seems to be a nice mare and a good friend of mine John Hassett (who passed away last January) had her and she came to me like in show-room material. She didn't run as John wasn't well and he brought her to a stage, before going into hospital. It has stood to her as she has a bit of age and is a fine strong mare. I didn't have to do much with her, only get her fit and she knew how to jump when I got her.

Seabank Bistro
Seabank Bistro is a big immature horse. He did it nicely, jumps well and is more of a chaser I think. He'll go out in trip I'd say, maybe to three miles. He was just gawky when he got to the front and was just idling. Paul had to get after him to get up the straight but that's twice he's won around Naas and it's always a good sign when you can win on this track. I'd imagine he'll get entries in Cheltenham in the Albert Bartlett and Ballymore - I'd be thinking more the Albert Bartlett at this stage.
Gowran Park Thu, 26th Jan, 2023
Bluebell Diva
She is progressing nicely and will probably get further now. The penny is starting to drop. She is a little bit quirky, but she is getting there. She has a bit to learn yet and was running around a little bit. She ran a good race in Limerick (third) and the form is working out okay. We might push her up in trip a little bit to see if she will get the three miles. She has a beautiful pedigree and is a valuable mare.

No Time To Wait
He's a big galloping horse. A horse for next year, a fine big horse. Look he is a horse to go jumping in the future to be honest. He won't jump a hurdle this year, he jumps well at home but is a horse for next year.

Limerick Lace
I'm pleased with that and it is grand to get her to win one. I'm not sure where we go from here to be honest. I suppose you would love to pick up a bit of black-type along the way. Yes, potentially (a nice handicap in her) and she will stay further.
