FormscanBy Gary Carson - SPANISH POINT was obviously out of his depth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas on his return to action this season but should be capable of picking up a maiden of this level. He was probably in there to force the pace last time and ultimately weakened right out of it. That run will have brought him on, however, and he showed enough on a couple of occasions last term, particularly when second to Zabriskie at Tipperary, to give make him the one to beat in this company. Dawn Trouper has been placed on both his starts to date and both were solid runs so he looks sure to be thereabouts again. Hasimiyya ran with promise on her debut at the Curragh last month and could be open to improvement. Trainer Dermot Weld also saddles a runner for the Coolmore partners and it will be interesting to see how Bright Eyed, a daughter of Galileo and Grade 1 winning mare Christmas Kid, fares here. She is a full-sister to Listed winner Black Sea.
