FormscanBy Tom Weekes - This is another Grade 3 race where conditional jockey Kevin Brouder gets the thumbs up from Charles Byrnes to ride TURNPIKE TRIP, despite his inability to claim 5lbs in the race. TURNPIKE TIP was a capable middle-distance handicapper for Henry Candy before joining Byrnes, for whom he has done well over hurdles. He was already placed at Listed level over hurdles, when second at Galway in July, and subsequently won nicely at Listowel. He might not necessarily want testing ground but will be fine on today's likely easy ground conditions. Four year old Way Back Home has a 7lbs penalty for winning his Grade 3 hurdle at Fairyhouse in February. He subsequently competed at a high level over hurdles and while those good hurdle runs entitle him to have strong claims today, it is mildly disappointing that he failed to win from a flat rating of just 63 on his two most recent starts, which is a concern today. Popong was well held when upped in grade at Galway latest and has a little to prove at this similarly competitive level while Razoul has been thoroughly progressive over hurdles in recent times but needs to maintain progression to win again today. Rips Dream put in a promising display to win on debut over hurdles at Wexford last month but faces a far stiffer task today.
