Trainer Johnny Murtagh registered a '2-1' in Dundalk's Follow Us On Twitter @DundalkStadium Maiden today, with his 12/1 newcomer Sixteen Arches over-turning the yard's 5/4 favourite Chicago Lightening
Chicago Lightening had finished third on track debut in November and today, under jockey Shane Kelly, was well backed, but in the race was headed close home by Sixteen Arches, which swept by under Danny Sheehy to score by a neck.
Classic winning trainer Murtagh sent out 16/1 chance No Nay Alexander to win on debut on December 3 and following his latest maiden success reported “it was a bit of a surprise but they had been working together at home and we thought both of them would run well.
“I didn’t think she would win from where she was drawn (13) and first time out but Danny gave her a peach of a ride.
“He got a lovely run round and crept into it. He said she put her head down and battled really well.
“I think they are two nice fillies and they have been pleasing us in their work.”
