Ken Condon is hoping the decision to sidestep the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket with Romanised will pay off in Monday’s Coolmore Zoffany Irish EBF Tetrarch Stakes at Naas.

The Holy Roman Emperor colt was last seen chasing home Charlie Appleby’s Masar in the Solario Stakes and he subsequently won the Craven and finished third in the Classic.

"He had a Guineas entry but he hadn't been working well enough to warrant running," said Condon.

"He’s been working nicely, but to go for a Guineas I’d have needed to see a bit more so I’m happy to start here.

"His last run in the Solario behind Masar reads very well. He’s been going well these last three or four weeks, but just not enough to go for a Guineas.

"We’re happy with him and we’ll see where he fits in after this. It looks a good race."

Dermot Weld ’s Imaging second to Gustav Klimt in a Guineas trial, the Ger Lyons-trained Would Be King Jessica Harrington's Brother Bear and London Icon from Adrian Keatley’s yard all hold claims on their best form.

Royal Ascot winner Different League has her second start for Aidan O’Brien in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Polonia Stakes having been well beaten just over a fortnight ago at Navan. Actress also represents Ballydoyle while William Jarvis sends over Mrs Gallagher from the UK.

In the opening Coolmore No Nay Never Irish EBF Fillies Maiden, O’Brien runs Coral Beach Gossamer Wings and Fairyland with Ryan Moore on the latter.

She cost 925,000 guineas and is a sister to Roger Varian’s Atletico.

Brendan Duke 's Pride Of Pimlico sets a good standard in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race in which O’Brien runs Van Beethoven who was third in a maiden at Newmarket’s Craven meeting.
