Formscan By Tom Weekes - GEE REX might be able to gain a second career win here. A smart type at best (he finished eight of 23 in the 2018 Coventry Stakes), he gained a belated first win at the Curragh in June and has since competed well from higher ratings and was unlucky in-running when fifth on his latest Curragh appearance. He steps up in trip today but should be fine at this trip and should win more races from this type of mark. Lightning Amber is a very well bred type (her dam is a half-sister to Free Eagle), and has herself shown useful form in handicaps and comes here proven on easy ground. She was penalised just 3lbs for her recent Leopardstown win ,when beating Leagan Gaeilge (third), Spruce Meadows (fourth) and Bring Us Paradise (sixth) and while she now carries a 3lbs penalty, today's rider takes off a full 10lbs which puts things again in her favour. Leagan Gaeilge is a previous course winner, over hurdles, and looks likely to win from his rating.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards (85 = 10st)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st and the minimum weight is 8st 6lbs
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
