He's a lovely horse. We ended yesterday well and today. All the horses that handled the ground ran well today. We were second and third in the Irish National and they are running well. It's all about the future with these young horses. Gordon Elliott, trainer

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr J.J. Codd, rider of Firefox, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr J.J. Codd accepted that he had breached the whip guidelines and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J.J. Codd was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(i) by using his whip without allowing his mount at least three strides to respond. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended Mr J.J. Codd for four racedays
