I love the horse, but when he got to the front he was a bit lairy. I knew we’d have to dig deep to be involved never mind win. I think he can win staying hurdles and he’ll be exciting to go chasing next year. I have to thank John Mahon and my parents who were offered plenty of money for him. It wasn’t enough for them, and they wanted to enjoy racing him. It’s important for me to have a horse like him in the yard and thanks to them for letting me ride him. I haven’t been riding all year and I’m still not one hundred per cent fit. I rode a couple during the week just to get my eye rightly in. He’s exciting and it’s good to have him. The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Frankie John, ridden by D.G. Hogan, placed first, and Jalon D'oudairies (FR), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed second, where it appeared interfence may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. G. Hogan stated that there was contact but both horses shifted towards each other. J. W. Kennedy stated that there was minor contact but it did not cost him anything. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the judge's placings and took no further action

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Forty Coats, trained by Henry De Bromheadf, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal

Sam Ewing, rider of Irish Champ, trained by S.R.B. Crawford, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung and jumped right

The Raceday Stewards interviewed D.G. Hogan, rider of Frankie John, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he had used his whip well above what was allowed by the regulation but added that he has just recently renewed his licence having not ridden for two years and he apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that D. G. Hogan was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g (excessive frequency) and Regulation 10.3.i (time to respond) and having considered his record in this regard (second offence for excessive frequency)(first offence for time to respond) the Raceday Stewards suspended D. G. Hogan for eight racedays for excessive frequency and a further two racedays for time to respond.
