Permission was given for Berkshire Phantom (IRE) and Artificer (IRE) to go early to post.
Berkshire Phantom (IRE), trained by Fionn McSharry, ran the previous day at Doncaster, finishing eighth of eleven runners.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Approaching the one-furlong marker, Berkshire Phantom (IRE), placed fifth, hung quickly right- handed, bumping Braes Of Doune (GB), placed fourth, which in turn briefly hampered a weakening Born A Rebel (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved, and that it had not improved the placing of Berkshire Phantom (IRE).
Following the race, Paul Mulrennan reported that Braes Of Doune (GB), placed fourth, hung both ways, and Sorin Moldoveanu reported that Born A Rebel (GB), unplaced, jumped awkwardly from the stalls.
