Permission was given for Doyen Du Bar (IRE) and Traprain Law (FR) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Madara (FR), ridden by Charlie Todd and trained by Dan Skelton which was ridden under a hands and heels to finish fifth of six, beaten by 20½ lengths.
Todd was interviewed and shown recordings of the race, and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to get Madara (FR) into a rhythm and give the gelding plenty of space to jump his fences following on from a 378-day absence.
Todd explained that he was happy with how the race was unfolding however felt Madara (FR) take a blow and weaken beneath him as the pace quickened entering the home straight, and as such was mindful to keep his mount balanced and ride out hands and heels in order to complete the final fences.
Todd concluded by explaining that he felt he had obtained the best possible placing on Madara (FR).
