Permission was given for both The Thames Lady (IRE) to be mounted in the chute, to wear a red hood to the start and to go early to post and Starsong (IRE) to go early to post.
Approaching the final 2 furlongs, Cooramook (IRE), placed second, edged slightly right-handed at the same time that The Thames Lady (IRE), unplaced, moved left-handed, which caused the rider of Starsong (IRE), placed fourth, to take a slight check on his mount, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Cooramook (IRE).
Following the race, Silvestre De Sousa reported that The Thames Lady (IRE), unplaced, hung left- handed.
