The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr P.J. Cawley, rider of Boxing Great, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr P. J. Cawley was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g (excessive frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended Mr P. J. Cawley for two racedays

An extended handicap for four years old and upwards (80 = 12st 2lbs)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules and Riders who are members of the Fegentri. Note: This is a Fegentri Race and there will be 5 International Riders and 1 Irish Rider selected to ride the top 6 horses in the race after the time of declaration. The draw will be made by the Declarations Department of Horse Racing Ireland. N.B. Riders will receive allowances under Rule 52 in this race. Top weight after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st 2lbs and the minimum weight is 10st 7lb.
