I was very disappointed in Cork. I've driven down there with him twice. He was favourite last year down there, and he was favourite this year, and I won't be going down with him again. Just no luck. I will try and get black type with her next season. When she learns how to race, I think she will stay a mile and two no problem. At the moment, she needs to run over seven or a mile because she is a little bit fresh. When she drops her head, I think a mile and two will be no problem. Last time Billy (Lee) said she did a little bit too much and she was a little bit free and fresh, so he said to drop her to seven furlongs. If any horse ever deserved to win a stakes race it was her, although you don't always get what you deserve. She met a bit of trouble in-running but hit the line strong and while it was a head-bobber, she had previously come out the wrong side of a few tight finishes in her career. We had been campaigning her aggressively to try and win a stakes race and while she built a load of black-type, to win a group race is great. I'd say it will be a career-best on the figures and I thought she won the hard way. She is a group winner now so it is job done although we might look to win another one now.

She’s always been a very good filly,. I ran her in the Birdcatcher and thought she’d win that. I put a tongue-tie on her to see if it would improve her and she didn’t jump and got into all the trouble. She looked like the winner of the race to me but didn’t get the run. I said we’d go back to maidens and we kept bumping into one. She ran a blinder two months ago in Dundalk. Johnny Murtagh’s filly (Songhai) won it and she was third in a Listed race the other day. I’ve always thought she’d a black-type filly but couldn’t win my maiden. I kept coming up against 90 horses so I said we’d just go for a handicap. The last day I ran her back a bit too quick and I saw it wasn’t the thing to do. I said I’d freshen her right up and thankfully the ground has stayed firm, because that’s what she wants. Everyone keeps preaching that she wants seven, I don’t disagree as I think she could stay seven but I think six is her trip. There is a race next week for her but it would be the same mistake again, running her back too quick. It was either the 0-80 against older horses or this. I thought there would be a huge field for this but there were only 12 or 13 entries and seven declared, but it was a hot field. On paper and homework she should win that but she just hadn’t won.

He had a grand run here the last day and we were happy when 'heavy' came into today's going description (after the fourth race). He stays a mile but I think he is better over seven (furlongs) and he relaxed fine with the cheekpieces off. We initially had thought of him as a Madrid Handicap-type horse, but in February we brought him to Newcastle for the all-weather over a mile, which didn't work, but thankfully he is running a lot better back on turf. We will come back here during Royal Ascot as there is a nice handicap for him, when he'll be in off a light weight in a better race.
