Skylight Hustle is a half-brother to multiple winners on the Flat and over jumps and was picked up by Robcour for 100,000 after winning his only point-to-point start for the prolific Colin Bowe yard.
That success came at Umma House in October 2024 over three-miles with Barry O'Neill doing the steering as they kept on strongly to best Reckless Spending late on.
After his move to Elliott's yard, Skylight Hustle debuted under Rules with a close up fourth in a bumper at Fairyhouse in January 2025 as De Temps En Temps won for Gavin Cromwell in a contest that has worked out well, with six of the nine winners over hurdles since, including Grade 2 River Don Novices' Hurdle winner Thedeviluno for Paul Nolan.
Indeed, that rival got the better of Skylight Hustle on their respective hurdles bow at Gowran Park (2m, heavy) in November and took the step up to three-miles at Doncaster in January to win his Grade 2.
Off the mark at Fairyhouse
Skylight Hustle went one better on his second start over timber at Fairyhouse (2m, yielding to soft) in November, coasting clear in the hands of Jack Kennedy to win by 21-lengths.
From there it was onwards to Leopardstown and the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Christmas.
He jumped and travelled well but appeared to be booked for second as Joseph O'Brien's Talk The Talk joined issue at the final flight only to come down.
Skylight Hustle was left to score and that form now looks strong as Talk The Talk went and bagged the Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival in a brilliant finish from Ballyfad and King Rasko Grey in what looks one of the strongest novice hurdles of the season.
Next stop for Skylight Hustle is Cheltenham in March where he holds entries in both the Skybet Supreme Novices' Hurdle over the minimum trip and the Turners Novices' Hurdle over 2m5f. His point form suggests stepping up in trip would cause no issue.
His trainer had given him entries in both Grade 1 novices races at the Dublin Racing Festival but Elliott was always plotting to go to the Cotswolds with a fresh horse, possibly over a longer trip."He's had three runs over hurdles already and he wouldn't be a certainty to run at Leopardstown," he said before the DRF."I also wouldn't be surprised if we step him up in trip this season. We might just keep him fresh and go straight to the Cheltenham Festival."
