Heather Heffernan had a day to remember at Sligo this afternoon when partnering her first winner aboard Insouciant Dallier in her own colours.

The Cokoriko gelding, trained by the winning rider’s partner James Fahey, went to post a 4/1 shot on his first outing for the yard.

Heffernan held her mount up in the early stages before taking closer order with a circuit to run.

Insouciant Dallier was disputing over the third last but looked booked for second turning for home as 13/8 favourite Are You Around edged ahead.

Heffernan got a good tune from her mount on the run-in, however, and got him up close home to record a three-parts-of-a-length victory.

The winning rider said:- "That was interesting! It was a bit bumpy, he was a little keen with me at first and I just found myself clipping on heels. But after that, he did everything I asked of him.

"He stayed going well and I think I had more of a blow than he did!

"I love Sligo, it's been a very lucky track for James' yard, so it's nice to ride my first ever winner here.

"I've done a lot of eventing and then I competed in the Corinthian Challenge, which was brilliant, before taking out my amateur licence.

"I work with Elaine O'Farrell of Race Displays and I do all the sectional times on the number cloths, there's little trackers that go into them for Course Track."
