'Slight improvement' in O'Connor's condition Matt O'Connor's condition has improved slightly as he remains in Cork University Hospital after suffering serious head injuries in a fall a week ago. O'Connor was knocked unconscious after his mount Walkin Aisy fell at the fifth-last fence of the Templemore Beginners Chase. Dr Walter Halley, former chief medical officer for the Irish Turf Club and a member of the jockey's family, said: "I spoke to his parents this morning. He is stable and has made a slight improvement. The monitoring process is still ongoing but the medical team are happy with him. "Although he is showing slight improvement, the no-visitors' rule at the hospital is still in place."
