Richard Fahey trained the first two home in the StanJames.com Chester Cup as Address Unknown (12/1) beat stablemate Ingleby Spirit (22/1).

Always prominent under Jamie Spencer after breaking from stall two, Address Unknown (a former Dermot Weld inmate) tracked the pace set by Thimaar and then Countrywide Flame and was always going well.

It soon became apparent he had the measure of Countrywide Flame who weakened out of the places late on and Address Unknown had half a length to spare over the closers at the line.

Ingleby Spirit finished best of all for second, with Tominator (11/1) third and Simenon (16/1, unlucky in running) another who saw his race out well for fourth.

Wiining owner Dr Marwan Koukash said: "I'm absolutely delighted. "When we lost Montaser (non-runner), I thought that was my luck gone, but Jamie gave this horse a fantastic ride.

"Richard has done extremely well with the horse over the past couple of months.

"This is a good start for me for the meeting.

"I'm over the moon. I've been in racing five or six years and the only thing I wanted to do was win the (Chester) Cup again.

"Winning the Cup introduced me to racing and to do it again is absolutely wonderful."

Fahey said: "We haven't had him that long and I never checked that he normally wears blinkers and a tongue-tie.

"I forgot to put them on, but it didn't make any difference and we've got away with it.

"To finish first and second in a race like this is fantastic for everybody. It looked a right race on paper.

"Marwan said when he (Address Unknown) came to me he'd win the Chester Cup.

"All I did was exercise him and bring him here - and forget the blinkers and the tongue-tie!"
