Jered Maddox scored for the tenth time at Dundalk and brought his career tally to 13 victories when getting up close home to land the DundalkStadium.com Handicap.

The gallant ten-year-old has proved a tremendous servant to the David Marnane yard and was taking advantage of a significant drop in the ratings having last won off a mark of 82 just over a year ago. Sovereign Banter appeared a likely winner when ridden to lead over a furlong out and edging right onto the stands’ side rail.

However, Jered Maddox responded gamely under Luke McAteer and finished strongly between horses to beat that rival by a head. Rattletheonionbag was just a neck further back in third.

Marnane said, "The handicapper gave him a chance.

"He ran well the last day, and we missed an engagement here last week. Just delighted he got back - we were tempted to retire him, but then he ran really well the last day.

"In fairness, Luke gave him a brilliant ride. Luke is improving every month that goes by now, he has been riding great.

"We have had a bit of seconditis lately, but they are running well anyway."
