100-Strong Catalogue For Goffs NH Breeze Up Sale

A quality catalogue of 100 lots will be offered at Goffs first ever National Hunt Breeze Up which takes place on Friday, January 19th. Horses will breeze on the polytrack gallop at the Curragh before returning to Goffs for the sale.

The catalogue contains 4 & 5 year olds by many of the leading national hunt sires including Accordion, Beneficial, Bob Back, Flemensfirth, Luso, Oscar, Presenting and Supreme Leader. One animal sure to attract plenty of interest is Lot 27, Slaney Lodge Stud's Accordion own brother to the Nicky Henderson trained Sir Jimmy Shand who finished runner up to Wichita Lineman in the Grade 1 Ballymore Properties Challow Novices´ Hurdle at Newbury in December.

Two choice offerings from Knockanglass Stables are an Arctic Lord gelding (Lot 3) closely related to listed hurdle winner Golden Bay and Lot 12, a son of Beneficial out of an own sister to 5 time winning and Grade 2 placed Stormy Lord. Lot 77 from Bridgetown House is a Presenting gelding out of an Over The River mare from the family of Bannow Bay and Far From Trouble, while

Kiltulla Stud's Dushyantor gelding (Lot 67) out of an 8 time winning dam and Nicholastown Stud's Flemensfirth brother to a winner (Lot 24) should both figure strongly. Lot 42 from Moanmore Stables is a gelding by Fourstars Allstar closely related to Grade 3 hurdle winner Alpha Royale and another well connected horse is Lot 81, a Bob Back gelding out of a dual winning own sister to listed chase winner Jimmy The Lark.

Horses will commence breezing in lot number order at 10.30am on the Curragh. A guide will be provided for purchasers indicating the number and the cap colour so as to identify the horses. The four furlong breeze up will be filmed with replays available to be seen both at the Curragh and in the Goffs sale complex. The sale itself will take place at 3pm. All lots will be available for viewing from 9am on Thursday 18th.

Commenting on the breeze up sale, Goffs Managing Director Matt Mitchell said 'The concept of a National Hunt Breeze Up is still in its infancy, but while it is early days, the belief is that the level of sales will increase driven by winners coming out of the sales, and the increasing demand for horses that are ready to run straight after purchase. By using the new polytrack on the Curragh, we can ensure consistent ground for all horses that breeze'.

'We have been very pleased by the quality of the catalogue and are delighted to be associated with an innovative concept in a national hunt context'.
