There was a third A I D A N O'Brien winner in a row on the polytrack tonight as San Remo defied top-weight in the Dundalk Stadium Handicap.

The three-year-old Frankel colt was equipped with a hood for the initial occasion, on his first venture outside of maiden company.

On start number four and off a 184 day absence from action, 4/1 shot San Remo got to the front a furlong out in this six runner affair.

He then fought off Room To Roam and Buffalo Blues by a head and a neck. There was just a further three parts of a length to the favourite, Allography in fourth.

"He was a little bit behind the bridle the whole way but when he got a bit of light and I got a few smacks into him he picked up well," said Donnacha O'Brien, earlier a winner on his brother Joseph's True Blue Moon

"He's never going to be a world-beater but he'll win what he wins in his grade."

The earlier Ballydoyle winners meanwhile were War Secretary (Seamie Heffernan) and Key To My Heart (Ana O’Brien).

The Stewards interviewed C.T. Keane, rider of Room To Roam, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found C.T. Keane in breach of Reg. 10 3. (f) (frequency) and suspended him for 1 race day.
