A break now for Ruler Aidan O'Brien has confirmed that Ruler Of The World will now have a break before dropping back in trip in the autumn. A laboured fifth in the Irish Derby behind Trading Leather on Saturday, the trainer felt that the horse's previous exertions caught up with him. "He got a little bit warm and maybe he was saying he'd maybe had enough - maybe I should have spotted it," said O'Brien. "He'll have a little break now and come back in the autumn and possibly go back to a mile and a quarter. "Jim's horse was in great order, but it was a great day - far from everything was lost." O'Brien's, Joseph, who was in the saddle, told At The Races that he had feared the worst from an early stage of Saturday's race. "From five furlongs out it didn't feel like he was travelling as well as I would have wanted," he said. "For a horse who didn't race at all at two, perhaps it was too much to ask him to have those three quick races, at Chester, Epsom and then here. "We'll know in a couple more days how he is, but hopefully he'll be back later in the season."
