Owner John Glews, trainer Enda Bolger and jockey Adrian Heskin are having an afternoon to remember at Downpatrick and the trio brought up a 29/1 double with Federici 's win in the featured Toals Bookmakers Ulster National European Breeders Fund Handicap Chase.

The same connections had been on the mark in the opener with Lofgren , and the centrepiece three and a half miler saw their Overbury gelding Federici go into battle as a 7/1 shot.

The Mooch gave it a good go from the front but Federici was too strong on the run-in and five and a half lengths split them at the line. Favourite Futuramic was half a length back in third.

Afterwards Heskin said: "It's a great day for Enda, and the owner, John Glews, and I'm delighted to have a double for them. He travelled beautifully and we had a plan and it couldn't have worked out better. I had plenty of horse and he scooted away.

"He was the only horse contesting against real hot opposition and I thought his form was fairly solid. He travelled great and was always there where I wanted.

"He had real good form with winter horses. He has a nice future over fences."

Meanwhile John Glews' friend Sean Byrne was on hand to comment: "Enda said he was very well and that he thought he would stay. He said he needed better ground. He got a lovely ride.

"I actually bought him as a foal for sixteen hundred for John."

Glews is from Shropshire, England whilst Byrne farms in Dunboyne.
