Abbaye the plan for Sole Power

Sole Power remains on course for the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp next month as long as the ground is suitable.

The four-year-old cut no ice in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock over six furlongs on Saturday but would be returning to his best trip of five furlongs in Paris on October 2.

Things did not go to plan for Edward Lynam's speedster at the Merseyside track but he did win the Group Two Temple Stakes there in May and was the 100-1 victor of the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes at York last summer, both over the minimum trip.

"It just didn't work out at Haydock, but he's fine," said the County Meath trainer.

"He'll go for the French race next if the ground is OK. That's the plan."
