All-weather also snowed off

All-weather racing in Britain has also been hit by the weather today with Kempton forced to cancel and Wolverhampton holding a second inspection at 11am.

Wolverhampton officials will have a second look after a 7.30am inspection proved inconclusive. The course has improved since yesterday's meeting had to be abandoned but the track is still unraceable at the moment.

'Conditions are improving but we will look again at 11am. We've had no further settling snow but we are still unraceable at the minute,' said clerk of the course Fergus Cameron.

'Temperatures are expected to reach plus three so I'm fairly hopeful,' he added.

Kempton clerk of the course Brian Clifford was forced to announce an 8am inspection due an adverse weather forecast overnight and, while he found conditions to be raceable first thing this morning, more snow has fallen since.

'We've had to abandon for today because we were raceable at 7am but we've had two centimetres of snow since,' said Clifford.

'We took two covers off this morning and the snow just started to settle on the grass, so we put the covers back on.'

There is the possibility that the card will be switched to Saturday as both Newbury and Warwick have already been abandoned.
