The Gordon Elliott trained Altiepix got off the mark on his fourth start over flights as he battled back to beat Barrack Street in I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle.

Beaten by a short head and half a length on his last start at Down Royal in February the son of Fragrant Mix was sent off the even money favourite today under Bryan Cooper.

Having led from the start he was headed away from second last by Barrack Street.

He then got back on terms at the last and dug deep on the run-in, regaining the lead from 100 yards out before keeping on best to score by a length and a quarter.

Barrack Street (7/4), who has now been placed on his last five starts, had to settle for second under Jonathan Moore for Keith Clarke.

Bryan Cooper said afterwards: "He found plenty. It was his first run of the year and he will improve a lot.

"He'll make a lovely staying chaser. He stuck at it well and is crying out for a fence. He'll go on any ground."
