The market spoke strongly in favour of Ambiguity in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race at Tipperary, and the Fastnet Rock juvenile duly justified the confidence with a winning debut.

The full-brother to Cougar Mountain was sent off the 4/6 favourite against four rivals and Donnacha O’Brien, riding for his father Aidan, had few anxious moments.

The hot-pot challenged a furlong out, and was just driven out to assert in the closing stages.

The front-running Eacharn was two and a quarter lengths adrift at the line, with Istan a further three quarters of a length back in third.

Joseph O’Brien, who supervises training of the winner on Owning Hill near Piltown, said "He had been working nicely at home and Seamus (Heffernan) rode him work the other day and loved him. The ground was slower than ideal but he is an exciting horse.

"I don't know if he'll run in the Marble Hill or the winners' race in Naas but we'll get today out of the way. Ascot is the plan and, being by Fastnet Rock, he'll be better on better ground."
