Ascot next for Guineas flop Memory

Memory could head straight to Royal Ascot after being forced to miss an intended run in Sunday's Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp.

The Richard Hannon-trained filly finished a long last in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier this month after proving reluctant to leave the stalls.

Connections had been hoping she would atone for that defeat in the French equivalent this weekend but she is in season and will miss that outing.

"Memory will miss her intended engagement in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches on Sunday," confirmed owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing in a statement on their official website.

"Richard Hughes rode her on Thursday morning and it was clear from her work that she had none of her usual zest.

"The vets examined her and confirmed that she is in season and, as a result, there is no point in sending her to France.

"She is also likely to bypass the Irish equivalent on May 22 and head straight to Royal Ascot for the Coronation Stakes on June 17."
