Australian trainer to appeal 15-year ban

Australian trainer Darren Smith will appeal a 15-year suspension issued by Racing New South Wales stewards over cobalt charges.

Smith has been disqualified until May 30, 2029 after he was found guilty of 42 of the 62 charges made against him relating to the outlawed blood doping drug.

But Smith's solicitor Paul O'Sullivan told the Australian Daily Telegraph: " We'll take this all the way. There's so many flaws in their case."

Victorian trainer Peter Moody, Mark Kavanagh, Danny O'Brien, Lee Hope and Shannon Hope remain under investigation in a case which has rocked Australian racing.
