Autumn campaign for Arazan

Arazan will not be seen on a racecourse until the autumn as the Aga Khan's colt recovers from a number of setbacks which ruled him out of the 2,000 Guineas on both sides of the Irish Sea.

The son of Anabaa was shorter in the ante-post betting for the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas than winning stablemate Sea The Stars during the winter, but has yet to appear on the track as a three-year-old.

His juvenile form included a Group Two win in the Futurity Stakes, and a third to Mastercraftsman in the Group One National Stakes. Trainer John Oxx reported today, "He's doing okay, it will be the autumn before he's out again.

"We're taking him along slowly and we've no plans for the moment. He had a nasty temperature, a nasty chest infection and it knocked him about a bit and took him time to recover.

"It's been very frustrating to miss the three big Group Ones for three-year-old colts, but we have to draw a line under that now and get him back for the autumn."

Arazan is entered for the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on September 5.
