Ayr goes ahead

This afternoon's jumps fixture at Ayr goes ahead following a successful inspection.

Course officials could even afford the luxury of moving forward their intended 7.30am check by around an hour after just three millimetres of rain fell overnight.

A dry day on Wednesday also helped to soothe the situation.

Although the Scottish circuit could receive a further 10mm of rain this morning, the forecast looks particularly favourable heading into the afternoon.

The going is soft, heavy in places, with racing due to begin at 2.20pm.

There is a strong Irish presence on the card and in-form handler Stuart Crawford saddles six runners.
