Back To Drawing Board With Reveillez

Connections of Reveillez will try and find a suitable opportunity for last season's Cheltenham Festival winner to get his career back on track after he failed to fire in the boylesports.com Gold Cup on Saturday.

Despite being sent off the 5-1 second-favourite under champion jockey Tony McCoy, the seven-year-old made a series of errors and could only finish a well-beaten eighth.

The James Fanshawe-trained grey had tipped up on his only previous start this season, having looked a most promising sort with his victory in the Jewson Novices' Handicap Chase in March.

Owner JP McManus' racing manager Frank Berry said: 'He ran OK, but he made a few little mistakes and got a bit tired later on.

'AP (McCoy) said he wouldn't be using the ground as an excuse and the horse will learn from the race ? it will have done him good.

'There is no definite plan for him but we will try and find something for him in the New Year.'
