Back-to-back wins for O'Brien's Spanish Temptress A winner at Killarney last time, the Richard O'Brien trained Spanish Temptress made it back to back successes when staying on best under Colin Keane to land the Guinness Handicap at Roscommon. Sent off 6/1, the grey was held up in mid division in the early part of the race, before making headway to track the leaders over two furlongs out. Moving second at the furlong pole, the Phoenix Rising Syndicate owned filly came through to head leader Fast Tara over 50 yards out. Staying on well close home, the three-year-old scored by one-and-a-half lengths. “I’m just delighted. A quick turnaround is always a question and she was up in grade with 7lb extra. Colin said he was really pleased with her and felt he was always getting there,” said O’Brien. “I think she’s a filly to look forward to for next season. “It looks like she seems to be enjoying that ground. I thought she wanted fast ground but that seems to be working really well for her so we’ll have her ready good and early next year. “I always thought she’d turn a corner but I actually thought it would be next year, but it seems to be happening now.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
