Bago On Course For Turf Tilt

Bago will try to end his season on a high when he lines up in the Breeders´ Cup Turf at Belmont Park on October 29.

Connections are targeting the 10-furlong event after the four-year-old finished third in the Prix de l´Arc de Triomphe on Sunday.

Bago won the Longchamp feature last year but he failed to sparkle in his summer campaign, suffering a surprise defeat in the Tattersalls Gold Cup before making the frame in two other Group Ones.

However, the Jonathan Pease-trained colt showed improved form to finish three and a half lengths behind Hurricane Run in the mile-and-a-half event to book his ticket to America.

'He looks very well and was in good form this morning,' said Alan Cooper, racing manager to owners the Niarchos family.

'The plan is to go for the Breeders´ Cup now and he is most likely to run in the Turf.'

Bago is as low as 5-1 with Coral for the Belmont event.
