Ballinrobe's meetings on Monday and Tuesday promise to be huge days for the County Mayo track as the 2012 Racecourse of the Year stages the most valuable races ever run at the picturesque venue.

In addition to the McHale Mayo National and the McHale Coranna Handicap Hurdle, sponsored by a local farm machinery company, Ballinrobe will also bring into use a new section of track in the back straight.

John Flannelly, manager at Ballinrobe, said: "We're starting a few races out there on Monday and Tuesday. We'll be bringing it in nice and slowly into the set-up.

"It looks a picture. They'll jump one hurdle and a fence on the new ground."

Monday's programme consists of five Flat races and a couple of bumpers. Dermot Weld looks to have a strong hand in the featured Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Race with impressive Aga Khan-owned Tipperary scorer Edelmira and the 86-rated Lanyard engaged.

Not surprisingly given the prize-fund there is a strong entry of 33 for the aforementioned McHale Mayo National Handicap Chase on Tuesday, while the Coranna Hurdle still has 30 in contention.
