Bangor off, Fontwell and Wolverhampton inspect

This afternoon's meeting at Bangor has been abandoned due to snow.

Clerk of the course Ed Gretton had initially given the meeting the go-ahead after an early inspection for frost, but the track has since seen plenty of snow.

Gretton had called a second check for 10am but he sees little point in delaying a decision.

He said: "It's still snowing now and there is just too much about to get racing on.

"There's about three centimetres on the track and although it is forecast to turn to rain, it won't be in time for racing to go ahead."

Fontwell will stage a further precautionary inspection at 11am ahead of this afternoon's meeting.

Clerk of the course Ed Arkell was due to take a look at 8am but opted to check conditions a little earlier.

While he is happy the hurdle track is fit for racing, the chase course is providing some concern after three millimetres of rain overnight.

Arkell will check that track again later in the morning but should it be deemed unraceable, officials have already confirmed they will run just their three hurdle races and a bumper.

Wolverhampton have called a precautionary inspection for 11am ahead of today's twilight meeting.

Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron reports the track to be unraceable at present due to snow, but he remains upbeat about an improvement in conditions.
