Beef Back On Form

Beef Or Salmon is back on course for an outing in the next week, having recovered from his abortive trips to two different tracks last weekend.

Trainer Michael Hourigan had planned to run the horse at Down Royal on Saturday but after the meeting was abandoned due to a security alert, he took Beef Or Salmon to Leopardstown for Sunday´s November Handicap.

Unfortunately the chestnut banged his head at some point during the manic weekend and had to be withdrawn.

However, he has suffered no ill effects and looks most likely to appear in the star-studded Betfair Chase at Haydock next Saturday.

'He stayed overnight in Down Royal on Friday and then in Leopardstown on Saturday night in unfamiliar boxes,' said Hourigan´s son Michael Jnr.

'When we were getting ready to tack him up on Sunday, we noticed some blood on his head and he had cut himself.

'There was a lot of commotion when we were moving him out of Down Royal on Saturday and that´s how it may have happened.

'We had him scoped and checked up and there was nothing wrong. He´s fine and Haydock is the plan, although there is also the Clonmel Oil Chase (on November 17) to look at.'
