Beef or Salmon Among Ericsson Chase Entries

Morris Oil Chase winner, Beef Or Salmon, is among the 24 entries for the Ericsson Chase at Leopardstown on December 28.

The Michael Hourigan-trained gelding, who won the Clonmel feature on his chasing debut, has a choice of engagements over the festive period, but will first have a run in novice company.

Hourigan said on Tuesday: 'Beef Or Salmon has come out of the Clonmel race in good form and the plan is to run him in a novice chase at Cork on December 15. We`ll see how he gets on there and then decide about Christmas.

'He`s also in the Denny Gold Medal Chase at Leopardstown two days before the Ericsson and we`ll decide nearer the time whether he runs against the novices, either in the Denny or at Limerick the following day, or if he will take on the experienced chasers again.'

The Ericsson entries also include Foxchapel King, winner of the race last year, and Rince Ri, successful in 1999 and 2000 and who will have his first run of the season in the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown this Sunday after recovering from surgery for colic. Commanche Court is also a possible runner in Punchestown event.

There are three British-trained entries for the Ericsson - the Paul Nicholls pair See More Business and Valley Henry, and the Henrietta Knight-trained Foly Pleasant, while virtually all of Ireland`s top staying chasers are also on the list. They include Florida Pearl, who is expected to miss the race for a second Pertemps King George VI Chase bid at Kempton on Boxing Day, and Ted Walsh's Commanche Court.

The Grade 1 Denny Gold Medal Chase has attracted 34 entries, including Azertyuiop and Vol Solitaire, both trained by Paul Nicholls, Le Coudray, winner of the Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse on Sunday, Adamant Approach and former Cheltenham hero Sausalito Bay.
