Big race double for Bolger at Newmarket Jim Bolger, successful earlier on the card with Dawn Approach in the "Dewhurst", enjoyed further juvenile success as Trading Leather beat the strong-travelling Montiridge in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket this afternoon. The son of Teofilo slammed a field of maidens at Gowran last time and he continued his improvement with a hard-fought win under Kevin Manning on the Rowley Mile. Richard Hannon's previously-unbeaten Montiridge cruised up on the winners quarters two furlongs out but Bolger's colt found extra in the closing stages. Aidan O'Brien's Eye Of The Storm was back in third. Bolger said: "We've liked him for a long time, but he's very much ground dependent so the first time I could run him was in a Listed race at Leopardstown. "Even today the ground wasn't really suiting him but he saw the race out well. We're viewing him as a Derby horse. "He is in the Racing Post Trophy but we'll see how he comes out of this and what the ground is like." Sky Bet introduced the winner into their Derby market at 16-1.
