Rachael Blackmore completed a double on the afternoon at Tramore when Prince Zaltar landed the Family Fun Day July 3rd Handicap Hurdle.

The Philip Rothwell-trained gelding was never too far off the pace in this 2m4f event and struck the front approaching the final flight.

A fine jump sealed the result and the easy-to-back 9/2 joint favourite kept on well on the run-in to beat Kells Priory by two and a quarter lengths. Old Soul was just a head further back in third.

Blackmore was also on the mark earlier aboard the odds-on Hide And Seek in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle.

Rothwell said, “He was very disappointing the last day on heavy ground at Clonmel. He really struggled on it.

“He jumped better and travelled better on that ground today. He’s a work in progress and has grown up a bit every day.

“James O’Sullivan has done a lot of the work with him but wasn’t able to do the weight today. We got Rachael today and what better rider could you have.

“One of the syndicate came over from Gibraltar this morning. They are from all over the place and it’s great they are here today.”
