Blue Blue Moon keeps on well for Mulligan The Johnny Murtagh-trained Blue Blue Moon (6/1) was a game winner of the 1xbet.ie Proud Partners of Irish Sport Apprentice Handicap for rider Rory Mulligan. In the Moyglare silks, the daughter of Space Blues was returning to a similar surface that she had when victorious in the Galway Festival, and this looked key to her victory today as she grounded out the win with a good show of stamina. There was a good early pace on with Spacebound and Flanker Jet, but Rory Mulligan always had his mount in the right position, and she led inside the final furlong but faced a sustained challenge from Longseoir, who was smuggled into the race by Shay Wallace. However, the daughter of Space Blues toughed it out to win by half a length. Winning trainer Johnny Murtagh said after the race: "I did think she ran very well the last day. The ground might have been tight for her. She loves that ground. I think a mile at the Curragh would have suited her really well. She wasn't beaten far the last day in a very good race. I did think coming here today the ground was key to her. Rory gave her a great ride."
