Slattery's Zaraahmando follows up to make it back-to-back wins Having opened his account at Limerick last month, the Andy Slattery trained Zaraahmando followed up when staying on best to win the concluding Farewell To Peter Roe Handicap at Fairyhouse. In front early on, jockey Andrew Slattery was content to take a lead in fourth from the opening furlong, as Dylan Browne McMonagle went on aboard recognised front-runner Verhoyen. Pushed along to go third early in the straight, Zaraahmando was ridden to go second over a furlong out. Leading over 150 yards out, the 7/2 market leader kept on strongly to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths. Trainer Andy Slattery said: “I thought he was a bit hard giving him 8lb for winning the last day. “He got handicapped last year when he was running too free in his races but he’s settling better. Hopefully he keeps progressing and if we can get him into Galway he’ll probably go there. “He’s in Saturday in Dundalk but as of now he’s not running. We’lI sleep on it and see how he is in the morning.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee.
