Trainer Johnny Murtagh continued a fine week when sending out well backed newcomer Bobardi to win the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden at Dundalk.

Put in at 14/1 early doors, the Sottsass fily was supported throughout the day before further money arrived for her on track.

Eventually sent off 2/1f, the JP Murtagh Racing owned newcomer landed the plunge in style under stable jockey Ben Coen.

Tracking the pace throughout, Coen made his challenge down the outside of the field early in the straight.

Leading a furlong out, Bobardi stayed on well to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths from Final Ascent .

Ben Coen said: "Lovely big filly. A big, good-moving filly and handled that surface really well.

"She has been doing things nicely at home without being asked any questions. She has been straightforward with anything you do with her

"I thought it was a strong maiden for this time of year.

"This is kind of a bonus; she is going to be better next year. Nice start and hopefully she can keep progressing.

"She's bred to get 10 (furlongs), so nice to see her win over a mile - shows they have good ability."
