Bobbi gets her turn under Sam Coen Bobbi Rosa made the breakthrough on her eighth start, as she claimed the five-furlong Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden. A runner-up three times last year, the Andy Slattery-trained grey certainly wasn't winning out of turn and while sixth on her return to action at Cork earlier this month, she was sent off a 7/2 chance today. Always close to the pace under Sam Coen, the Damien Moore-owned victor was pushed along from the two furlong pole and soon improved into a share of the lead. Ridden into an outright advantage with a furlong to go, she kept on well from there, comfortably accounting for Passing Phase by two-and-three-quarters of a length. The runner-up was returned the evens favourite under Shane Foley, with a further six-length gap back to Mini Mai in third. "We tried to hold her up at Cork and I don't think it worked as she sulked," Slattery, who was also on the mark at Gowran yesterday evening, commented. "We then worked her on the Vic (Old Vic Gallop) on Friday but she worked as bad so we decided to let her enjoy herself out in front today and it worked. "She has a very tender mouth and I told Sam (Coen) to ride her using the neck-strap coming out of the stalls. "I wasn't confident at all after the way she had worked but Damien Moore (owner) pushed me to run her. If it was up to me, I wouldn't have ran, so he made the call. "Maybe the ease in the ground might have been a big help and we might run her in those Listed races, hoping to get black-type in order to sell her." STEWARDS REPORT * A. Browne-Souza, rider of Viamonte, trained by W.P.Browne, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout. Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
