Botti rules out Breeders’ Cup for Giavellotto with Hong Kong the plan There will be no Breeders’ Cup tilt for Giavellotto, with a second victory in the Hong Kong Vase seen as the priority overseas mission for Marco Botti’s stable star. The globetrotting seven-year-old, who lowered the colours of Group One queen Kalpana at Royal Ascot earlier this season, was successful in the Sha Tin Group One in 2024 and was second to Sosie when defending his crown last December. He will now bid to reclaim the top-level prize after defeat in Baden-Baden’s Grosser Preis von Baden ended any designs on a trip to Keeneland for the end-of-season world championships. “It didn’t go to plan in Germany, but he has come out of the race well and I think we will stick with our plan to go back to Hong Kong,” said Botti. “It was always the plan and we’ll keep him fresh and although it’s a few months away, we’ll go straight there. “We had the thought of going Breeders’ Cup and if he had won in Germany maybe we would have been tempted to go there, but now I think we will speak to the original plan.”
