Brian Boru Impresses O'Brien Aidan O'Brien, disappointed with Alberto Giacometti at Leopardstown yesterday, had his spirits lifted after racing when English Derby hopeful Brian Boru worked extremely well in a specially arranged schooling session. The 4-1 Derby favourite, ridden by Mick Kinane, tracked stable mates Dickens and The Great Gatsby in a one-and-a-quarter mile gallop before easing past them one furlong out. Kinane said: 'I was happy with that. He's in good shape and moved well. He didn't have to do a whole lot but he did enough and I was pleased.' Although no official time was taken, the workout was clocked at about four seconds slower than the Ballysax Stakes over the same distance earlier in the day. Commenting earlier on Alberto Giacometti's run, O'Brien said: 'Obviously we were expecting Alberto Giacometti to run a very good race and it is a bit disappointing. But it is a long season and he is still carrying plenty of condition. Mick said he just got tired. We'll wait a while before making further plans for him.' Alberto Giacometti has drifted dramatically from 7-1 to 20-1 in the Derby betting following yesterday's performance.
