Brian Fleming looks back at the action last week and nominates his ‘Tracker Trio’

The irishracing.com tracker facility is something that has become a must-have tool for anyone serious about their punting.

Having used the tracker since it was added a long time ago, I'm going to share some of the horses that have caught my eye over the previous week.

The three races I'm focusing on include a couple of maidens that took place at the Curragh on Thursday, October 15 with a maiden also at Leopardstown on Saturday, October 17 completing the ‘tracker trio'.

Jade Fox, trained by Gavin Cromwell and ridden by Reese Holohan, Curragh 1.02, Oct 15

This filly stepped up considerably from her debut effort when running into third place at the Curragh over an inadequate six furlongs last Thursday. Her debut at Naas a month earlier wasn't straightforward and she ran better than her final position (12th) over 7f after meeting interference a furlong out. Sluggish out of the stalls under Chris Hayes on that occasion she had been creeping a little closer when stopped in her tracks. She came home in her own time at odds of 28/1 as her better-fancied stable companion Postponing Reality finished in fourth.

Last Thursday she responded to pressure to snatch third in the end albeit well adrift of the front two. She is one that most likely will end up in handicaps next season and over another furlong or two could well be knocking on the door.

The Boogeyman, trained by Danny McLoughlin and ridden by Ben Coen, Curragh 2.12, Oct 15

A €52,000 Arqana foal purchase, this colt wasn't ignored in the market on Curragh debut and ran with credit to finish third despite having to be switched to get a run. He split two horses rated in the 80s and bred to stay further than the one mile trip he raced over last week expect him to step up considerably from this effort when upped in distance. He looked raw with his rider nudging him along from before halfway but from two furlongs out when pressure was applied and switched from behind a wall of horses to his credit kept responding when the penny dropped. Related to a nine-furlong winner he'll be seen in better light when stepped up in trip and with this experience under his belt should be capable of shedding his maiden tag.

Drive On There, trained by Paddy Twomey and ridden by Billy Lee, Leopardstown 4.50, Oct 17

Backed into 11/10 favourite for this 7f maiden, this €130,000 Goffs Orby purchase had to settle for fifth place on debut. In a race controlled by two Ballydoyle runners for much of the way the son of Justify who holds an entry in the Irish 2000 Guineas was settled out the back of the 12-runner field after slightly missing the kick. He looked green after racing wide into the straight before making headway down the nearside with his head hanging right. The race was soon over when the fancied Ballydoyle winner Accumulation went for home from his pace setting stable companion over a furlong down to provide Wayne Lordan with his fifth of a magnificent six winners on the day. This experience should help the well-touted Drive On There no end when he reappears. His brother Just Before (Willie Browne) won twice over seven including once at Dundalk while another full brother The Black Tiger won his maiden over ten furlongs for Aidan O'Brien, so it won't surprise if he might step up a furlong for his next start.
