Browne McMonagle in ‘good spirits’ after horror fall Dylan Browne McMonagle was reported to be in good spirits on Wednesday after the fall at Bellewstown on Tuesday that saw him taken to hospital. The Irish champion suffered a crashing spill from the fatally-injured Mosel in the opening contest, at a meeting that was abandoned following an unrelated incident that saw two fallers in race two. Significant Spill at Bellewstown Speaking on Nick Luck’s daily podcast, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board chief medical officer Jennifer Pugh said: “Dylan had a good night. Obviously it was a significant fall, but he’s in a really good position and very stable overnight. He’s doing remarkably well given the seriousness of the fall. “He’ll be out for a number of weeks, but we’re in a very positive place compared to where we were yesterday. A huge thanks to everybody on the day who took such good care of him. “There are the standard return to ride protocols. It’s different for every jockey and it’s all very individualised (rehabilitation). We will know more over the next few days with regard to Dylan. “He’s a remarkable young man. Even in the throes of everything that happened yesterday evening, he maintained all his manners. He’s a pleasure to deal with.” Jockey Agent Provides Encouraging Update Browne McMonagle appeared to have a remarkable escape given the potential for serious injury and the jockey’s agent, Kevin O’Ryan, told the Racing Post he was much improved. O’Ryan said: “Dylan is up and about and walking and he’s in great spirits. I spoke to him this morning and he was in great form. He’s very appreciative of all the well-wishers and messages of support that have come his way.”
