Browne McMonagle to begin winter stint in Hong Kong Champion Flat jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle leaves Ireland for Hong Kong on Tuesday, where he partners Al Riffa in the Hong Kong Vase during a three-month stint in Asia. Browne McMonagle, who partnered Ethical Diamond to score at Del Mar on November 1 on the same weekend he became champion jockey, returned to Ireland with two Dundalk winners in recent days and is now set to begin a spell riding in Hong Kong during the winter months. Regarding the Joseph O’Brien-trained Al Riffa, who finished seventh in the recent Melbourne Cup, the jockey says "I think he travels over there on Saturday. He has come out of his race in Australia well. I can't wait for it (his three-month stint in Hong Kong). "It is a very tough place to get in there and I'm grateful to get in. "Hopefully, we can get off to a good start next weekend." Al Riffa competes in the Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin on December 14, with the Group 1 contest carrying a purse of €2.5m.
