Byrnes decides against appeal Charles Byrnes has decided not to appeal against the decision of the Listowel Stewards to hand him a €2,000 fine, having been adjudged to have used the racecourse as a training ground for his Pittoni's fast finishing fourth in the Slan Abhaile Race on Saturday. Having originally stated he intended to appeal "without a shadow of a doubt", Byrnes decided against an appeal after consulting with the horse's owner Patrick Wilmott. Byrnes stated "My opinion hasn't changed - the horse was not stopped but we have decided not to appeal as the horse won't be running for three or four weeks anyway, so would not be inconvenienced by his 42 day ban."
